sc2gg Commentator Idol: If Simon Cowell played Starcraft…

Commentator Idol Truth be told, I don’t think that Simon Cowell has ever made much to make the world a better place for anyone but himself and possibly the shareholders in Simco Productions - until now, that is!

sc2gg.com and Voice of eSports, with Cholera at the helm, bring to You an Idol-inspired but Cowell-free contest, where the new commentators of the future will compete in the art of giving You the best game experience from the professionals of Starcraft. Episode 3 - Foreign but Gosu

This week the remaining five contestants are commentating upon games played between the best foreign (i.e. not South-Korean) players.

Also, as guest judge of the week, none other than Chill from Teamliquid.net is joining the panel, and one can rightly assume that he will equally ruthless as he is fair. Enjoy the fray, the bashing and - possibly - the tears.

This week the contestants are required to commentate upon a replay and record it themselves.

This means that they are responsible for the ‘camera movement’, which can make or brake the viewer experience. Did Your favourite do well?

As of now, the remaining commentators are Hazelynut, Kenny, Morph1081, ParcX and Smi1ey. The voting happens over at the sc2gg.com.

Episode 4 - Duel of Duals

The heat is turned up this week, as the remaining contestants are now joining together in pais to do Dual Commentaries.

As any fan of the top sc2gg-voices would know, it’s the most fun when they join together, and no we get to see if the rookies got what it takes.

Two guest judges join the panel, they are Radivel and Psyonic Reaver - veterans of sc2gg.com

Hazel, Kenny, Morph, ParcX - duel!

Episode 5 - Surprise Commentaries!

From the glorious past, surprises are brought to our two last remaining contestants. This week they have to, without any other preparation than their pre-existing knowledge of Starcraft history, commentate upon some great games played a long time ago between truly legendary players

Kenny gets the honour of delivering coverage on the epic fight between [Oops]Reach, the Man-Toss, and iloveOov, the Gorilla Terran and prodigy of Slayers_Boxer, played in the 2005 MSL.

Hazel is no way less honoured, however, since she is commentating upon the mighty struggle between the Maestro of Zerg - sAviOr, then in his absolute prime, and Nal_Ra - a man whose power of Protoss set a new standard for how to fight for Aiur. This game was a part of the ___ in 2006.

Guest judges of this week are none other than Klazart - the Godfather of sc2gg-commentaries and almost as big a sAviOr-fan as myself, and Greth - also a veteran since the start of sc2gg.com, and according to himself ‘in need of the publicity. Without further ado, let games begin!

More Suprises, from Nich ‘Tasteless’ Plott

That’s right folks - the Man Himself, the Baller from Seoul and the one truly professional Starcraft-commentator in the world is this week’s surprise guest judge - I give you the insights of Nich ‘Tasteless’ Plott.

As many of You will already know, Tasteless is the resident voice of GomTV - the finest channel for pro-Starcraft in the world, and for the first time so far he has lended himself and his name to the attempts of sc2gg.com and Cholera to breathe new life in the foreign amateur scene.

Since few others pack the same kind of punch as Tasteless when it comes to the fine details and mechanics of how to cast a game, this is one clip You don’t want to miss.

sc2gg Commentator Idol - The Final

In the end, there can be only one. A winner must be crowned so that the show may go on. Kenny and Hazel has struggled, commentated and combatted to get to where they are - and now one of them will claim the ultimate prize of everlasting glory and access to the VioleTak-account.

The unique thing about this last episode is that, in line with the real Americon Idol (uykh!), the judges’ opinion count for nothing - the result is entirely determined through the votes of the viewers. I know which one my favourite is, but I won’t tell You.

Click and see who won, argue about whether or not that was right, and if You have enjoyed this special show - do send a message to Cholera and let him know. Personally I think that he and the other staff over at sc2gg.com has made a terrific viewer experience out of the one thing we all share and love - Starcraft at the highest level. GGs to all!
