Starcraft 2 continues to taunt us with its abscence, as we have now reached January of 2010 still without having a definite release date. However, there is medicine for the cravings, and the new site of today’s feature offers a whole lot of it. Polygonrevue.com proudly presents SC2Videos.org.
Below you will be able to hear it from the head admin himself about what this site offers and how it may satisfy some of your longing for Starcraft 2. SC2Videos.org does what the name implies – offering you a comprehensive and accessible library of video content featuring this much anticipated game. All the official video clips released by Blizzard are there, but also many (many!) others.
Myself, I was happily surprised to discover just how much Starcraft 2 material that was floating about around the interweb – plenty of which I had never watched, and chances are that the same applies toYou. Various version of the SC2 Alpha has been made public on many special gaming events and conventions, and people have always made sure to capture it on video. For the first time, all that content is being collected at one place, SC2Videos.org - an affiliate partner with Polygon reVue.
This is a most enjoyable thing, as it gives us plenty of the next best thing to playing Starcraft 2 – watching it in action. Read on to hear it from the man behind it all:
PR.com: SC2Videos.org offers the largest library of Starcraft 2 video content online, all in one place. When did you launch the site and how’s it been going so far?
SC2Videos.org: We launched on Dec 14th, 2009 and have been growing ever since. I feel the site has grown much faster then I anticipated which has definitely kept me on my toes
We have added tons of Features over the original site and continue to do so. We couldn’t be happier about the way things are moving along
PR.com: What are the main features of the site, what can people do there besides from watching videos, and what are the plans for the near future?
SC2Videos.org: We provide quite a few features. Some of the more notable ones being Video Uploads, Image galleries for screenshots, Video comments, Video embeds, Forums for discussion, Profiles throughout the site and forums, Private messaging, Video and image voting, Comment ratings, A very robust search feature, Profile comments and friends lists, the ability to make a playlist and add videos to it for easier viewing of your favorite videos, and several more. Not to mention the easiest navigation for all your favorite SC2 Videos in one place.
As far as the future goes we are looking at making it easier for people to upload their SC2 videos with a Desktop uploader in the works, an option to embed pre-existing videos from youtube to play in our player in our play page with the same easy navigation. Also more customizable profiles similar to youtube with the ability for custom background images, header colors, text colors, and link colors. Its very exciting really
PR.com: Is it possible to download the videos, or are they only available to stream?
SC2Videos.org: This may become a feature in the future. All of it is in place however we want to see how our bandwidth goes first we have a limited amount of transfer. However with the support of our viewers through donations perhaps or maybe revenue from ad placement we may enable this feature. It would be a Download link under the video and you would be able to download that video directly from our server.
On a side note in the forums we do have attachments enabled and we have no problem if anyone wants to embed a video and attach the replay file itself for downloading in the thread. Its a simple smaller alternative to direct downloads for now.
PR.com: Can anyone add content to SC2Videos.org, upload or stream video? Are you perhaps even looking for staff to moderate forums and produce material?
SC2Videos.org: Yes anyone can add content to SC2Videos.org as long as its SC2 related. The only restriction for now is the upload size set at 400MB (we will be adjusting this through out beta) and you have to have an account. Signing up is easy and free and shall remain so forever.
We will be looking for some dedicated and trust worthy forum moderators in the near future When we are ready to get some moderators set up we will post an application in the forums with the requirements and you will be able to apply there. We welcome anyone who wishes to produce videos or informative strats/tutorials/discussion for SC2.
PR.com: There are a lot of video clips on your site already, there is clearly more Starcraft 2 material out there than one might have expected. How many files do you currently have in your database, and is it still growing?
SC2Videos.org: Currently we have 104 SC2 Videos comprised of 1v1, 2v2, cinematics, gameplay, and blizzcon footage. We continue to add more videos as we find them across the web. This week we will be adding a long series of videos in a new category we are going to be creating that will be comprised of an entire walk through of the SC1 campaign Including cut scenes and the game play the campaigns (the game play is shortened but still good) Good refresher for anyone interested in the SC lore.
PR.com: Starcraft 2 is hugely anticipated by millions around the world, but currently the only thing we can do is to watch videos and images of the game. Once it’s released, how will that change the approach of SC2Videos? What can we expect from the site in the future?
SC2Videos.org: Once the game is released we will continue our efforts to be the number 1 resource for videos pertaining to SC2. We invite everyone to show off their skills, or that unbelievable come back, Clan matches, E-Sports from major competitions, Interviews, Video Tutorials, and anything that could help out new and veteran players alike. We enjoy watching how this is done, build orders, great matches, excellent micro – we love it all
The main goal will always be to have an organized library of SC2 content that will help out, and entertain
Excited yet? Are You as eager to play Starcraft 2 as everybody else, or are you getting tired of waiting? How did you find SC2Videos.org and the content there? Let it loose in the comments

It’s all cool but this black & blue colour combination makes it hard for my eyes to easily navigate through the content of the site.
The text should stand out more. ;O
Thank you, I will pass that on to the people at SC2Videos.org, since I know that they are still beta testing the functions of their site and want to improve it as much as possible. Maybe a bit more white would do it…
